Ergonomics
is the key to a better performance at work, by humanizing the
means to produce furniture, adapting it to the worker's or
user's characteristics.
Visual comfort:
In order to guarantee visual comfort, your PC monitor has to
be from 45 to 70 cm far from you and at the height of the
sight. As far as possible, "rest" the eyes by putting objects
around (paintigns, plants, etc.).
Feet on the ground:
It is important to work with your feet completely placed on
the ground, by means of height-adjustable chairs, so that the
seat would adequate to your build; the minimum ideal height is
36 cm.
When a chair is adequate to your height and it allows
you to have your feet placed on the ground, it helps you to
relax muscles and have a good circulation of the blood in the
legs.
Back of the seat:
Seats have to have medium-size backs, a bigger support surface
guarantees a better distribution of the weight of the body and
the relaxation of the muscles. It is important to know there
are height-adjustable backs in operative chairs.
It is
advisable the use of fixed or adjustable armrests .
Lumbar support:
It is very important to cover the lumbar zone with a support.
Bear in mind that the selection of the chair or armchair is
important since a person remains seated many hours a day.
This
support helps to rest the hips and the waist, so achieving a
good position of the back and the vertebral column.
Lighting - Colors -
Temperature - Acoustics:
Ergonomics is completed with good lighting. It should avoid
reflection especially that of the monitors and of the working
surfaces.
Colors should be light, soft and preferably with a
matt finish. Ideal tempreatures are between 25 and 26 degrees
in winter.
In places where intellectual work is done and the
attention is constant, the sound must be under 65 dB.
